Giants sign fourth-round pick Brandon Crawford

The San Francisco Giants have signed shortstop Brandon Crawford, their fourth-round pick and the 117th overall selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today. The Giants have come to terms with 29 players from this year's draft, including 26 of their first 31 selections. The 6-2, 200-pounder out of UCLA batted .302 (70-for 232) with 53 runs, 13 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 51 RBI in 60 games for the Bruins this season. He was also selected to the Fullerton Regional all-tournament team this season after hitting .375 (6-for16) in four games during UCLA's NCAA regional appearance. Crawford earned UCLA's Most Valuable Player honors in both 2006 and 2007, while also recieving All-Pac 10 accolades. He hit over .300 in each of his three years at UCLA, posting a career average of .319 with 44 doubles, 13 triples, 20 home runs, 136 RBI and 145 runs. Crawford is a product of Foothill High School in Pleasanton.
