Giants Offer 1-Year Deal To Free Agent Joe Crede

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― Kim Coyle

Giants Team Page The San Francisco Giants have offered free-agent third baseman Joe Crede a one-year contract, sources told CBS 5 on Saturday.Financial terms of the offer were not immediately disclosed. The thirty-year-old hit .248 with 17 homers and 55 RBI's with the Chicago White Sox last season.A back injury limited Crede to 47 games in 2007 and 97 in 2008. But Crede's agent Scott Boras in recent days has proclaimed his client is now fully healthy and ready for spring training.Boras has called Crede "a player of all-star caliber." The Minnesota Twins have also expressed an interest in Crede, but there's been no word as to whether they have extended any offer to him.
Talkin' Giants Comment: If Joe Crede signs with the Giants, this is a great move. This will help the Giants defense and his right handed power will strengthen the offense. Crede will also help to form a bridge for when the Giants feel Conor Gillaspie is seasnoned enough to take over full time at thirdbase. The organization obviously feel he is on a fast track due to his September call up and being on the 40 man roster.
