MLB Amateur Draft-talkin'Giants predict...

Mike Lovell - talkin' Giants Baseball
The importance of making the right choice is imperative for the Giants brain thrust, namely Brian Sabean.

With the fifth pick, the Giants have an outstanding chance of picking a player that should be playing in the show in short order.

It is widely posted that Tampa Bay will either pick shortsop Tim Beckham or catcher Buster Posey. Pittsburgh is leaning toward third baseman Pedro Alvarez. Kansas City and Baltimore pick third and fourth respectively. It is believed that Kansas City is leaning toward pitcher Brian Matusz so there is an outstanding chance the Giants will have the opportunity to pick either first baseman Justin Smoak or shortstop Gordon Beckham. Beckham, the Golden Spikes Award finalist, is believed to be destined to play third base professionally. It is by deduction of needs that the Giants will pick Beckham. We will see...the Giants often surprise. Another pitcher in the first round?
