Giants unable to hold down Halos

Cain touched up, but Alfonzo snaps slump with homer

Angels at the plate: Vladimir Guerrero tagged a two-run tater onto the berm in left field off Giants ace Matt Cain. Gary Matthews had a single, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Chone Figgins had an RBI double and also walked and scored, while Erick Aybar twice singled and scored and added a sacrifice fly.

Giants at the plate: Eliezer Alfonzo, who was hitless in 17 at-bats this spring, launched a Jered Weaver pitch over the berm in left in the third inning. San Francisco tallied just three hits.

Angels on the mound: Weaver struck out three of the first four batters he faced. He was perfect except for Alfonzo's home run. Darren O'Day continued his strong spring with two scoreless innings.

Giants on the mound: Cain was touched for five hits and five runs in 2 1/3 innings, while Steve Kline yielded three hits and two runs in an inning. Keiichi Yabu allowed two hits and one run in two innings.

Up next: Jon Garland will start for the Angels against the White Sox and Nick Masset at Tempe Diablo Stadium on Friday. Kevin Correia will open for the Giants against the A's and Dana Eveland at Scottsdale Stadium.
