Giants at the plate: Bengie Molina had one of the more interesting sequences on offense of Saturday's contest. Molina drove a pitch off the right-field wall leading off the second against John Danks, but he was almost thrown out at second by Miguel Negron on a throw from the wall. Unable to score from third on Justin Leone's medium-deep fly ball to center, Molina came home on Nate Schierholtz's fielder's choice grounder. Kevin Frandsen singled home a run off of reliever Scott Linebrink.
White Sox at the plate: Brian Anderson singled twice and walked, with the outfielder now having reached base in 11 of his last 18 plate appearances. Orlando Cabrera added a single and scored a run, while Jim Thome reached base three times via two walks and a double. Brad Eldred's two-run homer in the eighth provided the winning margin.
Giants on the mound: Jonathan Sanchez gave up just one unearned run during his three innings of work on Saturday. He yielded three hits, while walking two and striking out one.
White Sox on the mound: Danks worked four innings for the first time this spring, allowing one run via Schierholtz's fielder's choice. The southpaw struck out two and walked one.
Cactus League records: Giants 3-8; White Sox 6-7.
Up next: Jose Contreras gets the start for the White Sox, as they travel to Peoria, Ariz., for a contest with the Padres on Sunday. Jack Egbert, who made his presence known with a strong 2007 effort at Double-A Birmingham, also is scheduled for his first Cactus League appearance after working through right elbow inflammation. The Giants play host to Colorado in Scottsdale on Sunday, with Patrick Misch slated to start against Franklin Morales.
Comment: Joe Crede is currently hitting .105 so far this spring.
