Giants drop 8-6 loss to Texas

Rangers at the plate: Travis Metcalf's two-run, two-out, two-strike double off Steve Kline broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning, and Julio Borbon contributed a two-run, tiebreaking single in the 10th. Kevin Mench and Marlon Byrd drew bases-loaded walks and Ben Broussard and David Murphy hit sacrifice flies in Texas' four-run first inning.
Giants at the plate: Rich Aurilia's bases-loaded, ground-rule double in the fifth inning forged the temporary 4-4 tie. Ray Durham, playing his first game at second base this spring, went 2-for-3 with a double.
Rangers on the mound: Jamey Wright, who pitched for the Giants in 2006, fired two shutout innings. Left-hander Bill White pitched a perfect sixth.
Giants on the mound: Noah Lowry's nightmarish spring continued as he walked nine of the 12 batters he faced. Fifth-starter candidate Kevin Correia allowed one hit in three shutout innings after Merkin Valdez blanked Texas for two innings.
Cactus League records: Rangers 4-1-1; Giants 2-4.
Up next: The Rangers and left-hander Kason Gabbard will oppose the Arizona Diamondbacks and their ace, Brandon Webb, on Tuesday at Surprise Stadium. San Francisco travels to Peoria, Ariz, to face San Diego and future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux. Tim Lincecum, who pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings last Friday, will make his second spring start.
