Giants at the plate: Emmanuel Burriss and Andres Torres each had two singles. Burriss had an RBI and John Bowker walked with the bases loaded in a three-run third. Scott McClain cranked a solo homer in the eighth, and Jake Wald homered to lead off the ninth.
Royals on the mound: Left-hander Horacio Ramirez pitched two shutout innings, then gave up three runs -- all unearned -- in the third. Second baseman Callaspo and first baseman Ryan Shealy made errors and center fielder Mitch Maier had Burriss' long drive go off his glove. Kyle Davies, also a starter, worked three scoreless innings and gave up only a single.
Giants on the mound: Starter Matt Cain gave up three runs, all earned, in the second inning but he didn't get much help from the defense. There were errors by center fielder Torres and first baseman Bowker, and right fielder Matt Downs missed Lubanski's triple against the wall. Jack Taschner faced nine batters in a three-run sixth, giving up three hits and three walks.
Cactus League records: Giants 2-4, Royals 3-2-1.
Up next: Zack Greinke, who began his spring with two perfect innings against the Giants, welcomes the Cleveland Indians for their first visit to Surprise Stadium at 2:05 p.m. CT on Tuesday. The Tribe has just moved to Arizona from Winter Haven, Fla., and will start Anthony Reyes. New reliever Kyle Farnsworth will make his Royals debut and lefties Jimmy Gobble and Ron Mahay will have their first spring outings. Also scheduled to pitch are Doug Waechter and Robinson Tejeda.
